Septic arthritis

This type of arthritis is quite different from the previous two as it is caused by an outside agent, which is often bacteria.

What happens is that the infectious agent enters the blood stream and settles in the joint or joints and causes the arthritis.

Septic arthritis can also be caused by viruses, mycobacteria, and fungi.
